Malekah Mason was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, but moved to Richmond Virginia at the age of two with her parents, where she and her siblings were raised. As the middle child of three she was very shy and would often experience anxiety. When Malekah was a preteen she fell into the trap of comparison like many other young girls her age and viewed herself as unattractive because of her plus size.  It was her father, and Pastor, who planted the seeds of NEW thoughts in her mind that ultimately helped her to view herself through the lens of acceptance, beauty and love to overcome anxiety.  She continues to incorporate these beliefs in every area of her life and to inspire young girls and women to develop this same level of confidence. 

Malekah decided that her purpose in life is to inspire the world to reshape their thinking when it comes to defining beauty, by letting go of the stringent industry demands for beauty that often creates unrealistic imagery in young girls and women;  which leads to poor mental health and anxiety.  She loves to empower young girls and women to love themselves just as they are, by utilizing various platforms to showcase and drive home these ideas. The platforms Malekah loves to express herself through the most are in the art of acting, poetry, and through writing skits and plays. She has been involved with various projects in the surrounding communities of Richmond, Virginia. She also served as the head video and play director in her church community. 

Malekah always strives to put her best foot forward. Professionally, she currently  works as a Configuration Leader at Allianz Partners. 

Malekah decided to audition for The Ms
 Full Figured DMV Pageant, because the organizations purpose and vision truly aligned with her personal purpose. Malekah’s matra for life, in which she lives by is..."I am a Spirit, I have a Soul , and I live in a Body". These words ensure that she doesn't over identify with any area of life.  She believes that true beauty is in our imperfections and is what makes us unique in this world. 

The Ms Full Figured DMV Pageant,  is the first pageant that Malekah has participated in. The journey of being in this pageant has educated her on the art of pageantry, beauty and fashion modeling. Malekah plans to continue her pursuit of fashion modeling in the future.
